Virtual Co-Location
Do you want the benefits of a co-located server but not the cost? MECnet is now offering Virtual Co-Location, a cost-effective way to have a private dedicated server ready for you to configure or program as you wish. This server can be used for your organization's applications and/or web server.
Hosted Microsoft Exchange
If you want Microsoft Exchange as your mail client, MECnet is pleased to announce that we can now offer a web-access or client based Microsoft Exchange solution for your organization. Come to this session to see how you can save resources, time and costs by having MECnet host your Exchange mail.
Shark Box (Packet Capture Hardware Product)
MECnet now offers a hardware-solution packet collection agent. This new device plugs seamlessly inline with your network and allows you to collect and save all Ethernet packets within a single capture file on the included 1terabyte hard disk. This new product produces industry standard capture files which can be reviewed on a Windows or Macintosh computer using one of the many available display utilities.
This product supports 2 gigabit network segments, and can monitor and collect statistics on both segments simultaneously. Managed through a graphical web interface, it requires no configuration or redesign on your network. Simply plug the device in between a router or switch and it will transparently capture data on demand.
MECnet's Offsite Storage Solution
MECnet is now offering an offsite Storage solution for our Customers. This solution is a simple SFTP server to which customers can upload files. We are also offering an SFTP client that maps as a drive on Windows or Mac OS X. Using this client, MECnet Storage can be used like any other drive on your system. Customers can use it for backup, storage or disaster recovery.

(A) Combating Spam: Techniques Used in Production to Stop Unwanted Email -- Presented by: Gary Babin, Network Manager, Groton Dunstable Regional School District Joe Coco, Research and Development Manager, MECnet
Do you need help in managing your SPAM system? SpamAssassin is a mail filter to identify spam. It is an intelligent email filter which uses a diverse range of tests to identify unsolicited bulk email, more commonly known as Spam <http://wiki.apache.org/spamassassin/Spam> . These tests are applied to email headers and content to classify email using advanced statistical methods. In this session, Joe and Gary will be demonstrating how SpamAssassin is used to score and block emails and how the Razor Rating System works.
(B) HelpDesk Tips and FAQs -- Presented by: Annelyse Anderson, HelpDesk Manager, MECnet
This will be an interactive discussion with our Helpdesk Manager, Annelyse Anderson. In this session, attendees will learn about 'frequently asked questions' on a variety of topics including; Bandwidth stats; Web filters; Email Portal; Spam; and Email List Serves. Our Helpdesk has collected the most common questions and time-saving tips that focus on helping you and your users work more effectively. Your feedback is important to us and helps us plan for future services we can provide to the MECnet Community.
